Everyone claims to be leading edge
An emerging software sector in IT is that of application migration. Here at IT Footprint, we’ve been tracking the two major players in this area – ChangeBASE and App-DNA.
We were interested to see a release from ChangeBASE announcing a contract win with Dutch transport company RET, with ChangeBASE claiming to be the world leader in application testing. This got us thinking – wouldn’t App-DNA claim the same?
We’ve all seen the statement a million times, but is this ‘world leader’ title a little hard to justify? Everyone claims to be the leading this or the world’s leading that! Don’t even start me on leading-edge and bleeding-edge technology. There was even a brilliant industry blog celebrating this (The World’s Leading) which was eventually taken down for being too funny.
So, who is la crème de la crème in providing insights into application migration? According to App-DNA’s chief customer officer Kurt Heusner. “We prefer to be global leader, rather than claim it,” says Heusner.
Application migration is certainly a hot topic, as companies realise the enormity of task ahead when looking to change operating systems. But, claiming to be world leading, doesn’t cut it. Prove it.
The story on RET is interesting. But, I was also interested to hear about how The Co-operative Group has been working with App-DNA to migrate applications to a virtualised infrastructure in advance of a head office move in Manchester and the fact that App-DNA won Citrix Best of Synergy Show award for two years running.....
