Linksys X3000 - Who's the router in the black?

Linksys X3000 Review

Nick Booth

A router is like a referee. The good ones don't get noticed when they do a superb job

You can judge a man by his router. If he's got any Linksys model, that tells you an awful lot about his character. If it’s an X3000, you will know he’s a man who thinks ahead. A man who is always thinking of his next move. A man who stays ahead of the game. Because the Linksys X3000 can handle anything up to 300Mbps.
Wireless ADSL 2+ or cable? Bring it on. And it’s only around a hundred quid. Easy to manage.
And stylish too.

What’s the first thing you do when you go to someone’s house?

The state of their loo? The bedroom? The kitchen?

Personally, I like to judge a man or woman by their home IT infrastructure. Now I’m a Mac user, I tend to take a dim view of anyone who still uses a PC.

Now I've got a Mac I think that all IT should be equally easy to manage and yet stylish too.

The Linksys X3000 fits into that category. Like any well engineered product, it deals with all the complexity while giving you a nice easy interface.

It's a bit like those air stewardesses who keep their heads and efficiently deal with everything, while in the cockpit there's all kinds of complicated aeronautics being calculated.

All we see is a stylish black box, a few pretty lights and some basic symbols representing management commands.

But in the background, this fiendishly clever device caters for Wireless ADSL2+ and cable, pumps out a wireless signal to a much broader range than my old router and runs at 300 Mbps.

Superb.
